I won’t go into a full rant about this because I’ve no doubt that other more talented writers have done so. On Facebook, I posted about what happened to Milli Hill, and the poor treatment she’s received for objecting to the phrase “birthing parent” instead of mother or woman when speaking about obstetric violence.
A social justice warrior old school acquaintance jumped on it, saying whilst she doesn’t agree with threats, she doesn’t know why we don’t just use birthing parent because it’s a decent umbrella term. I said we have three umbrella terms already: FEMALE because only females can give birth, WOMAN because most females are adults when they give birth and MOTHER, long accepted as the primary word for a female parent.
If a female wants to be referred to as “male” or “it” or whatever during birth, that is their prerogative - and one that Milli Hill is willing to accommodate - but “birthing-parent” does not need to be inflicted upon the rest of us. Individual preferences will be taken into account because females deserve to be treated the way they wish during something as scary as birth, but the entire population does not need to bend language to suit them.
So my acquaintance started throwing pseudoscience my way, as is gender ideologist’s wont, and I wasn’t having it. The claim was that “the best scientists” in the world still cannot properly divide us into male and female, so “birthing parent” is the most suitable term for mothers…not sorry, that is bollocks. I told her that scientists know humans are sexually dimorphic. If we are not, then what are the gametes between EGG and SPERM? Is it this?
Since this person is a butch lesbian, I assume she produces the sperg or the spegg because gender ideology dictates that masculine-presenting women are men, doesn’t it? So she must be producing at least speggs.
Joking aside - (or was I?) - she began to patronise me about people born “intersex”, by inventing chromosome and gonadal combinations that mean they are neither male or female. I’m by no means an expert, but I’m still the wrong person to challenge on that topic. Thanks to the now-banned-from-Twitter Clare Graham (MRKH voice) and Intersex Facts, and the still remaining ClareCAIS I’ve learned loads about Disorders/Variations of Sexual Development and I won’t put up with them being used as pawns in the gender ideology game.
In I came with facts about loads of intersex disorders that render her ideas bullshit. There is no one walking around with both sets of functioning gonads because gonads develop from the same tissue. I am not the best person to explain it so I will hand you over to someone who is.

I concluded with my opinion that a minority demanding compelled speech from a majority is illiberal and entitled, especially the fact that these demands now come with threats if one does not adhere to these gender-ideology demands.
Only females can give birth, all adult females are women and the word for females that give birth is mother and there is nothing you can do to change this, even if you had your tits cut off and put Arctic Fox Poseidon Blue on your undercut hair.
As a minor update: My ‘friend’ began the conversation saying she thinks the threats and poor treatment of Milli Hill are unreasonable, but when I brought up that the abuse is being done by trans activists, not the intersex people she speaks of, she claimed zero knowledge of any abuse and asked what my point was. Um, it was the “unreasonable behaviour” she mentioned in her first paragraph which was about the treatment of Milli Hill in the article we were discussing! Argh! Conflict from gender people? What conflict?!
I seemed to have scienced her out a bit because she tried to say she formerly had an “encyclopaedic knowledge” on “intersex” a few years back. Well, that cannot be true otherwise she wouldn’t make these claims about people with both sets of functioning genitals.
