I want to scream at people (politicians, journalists, public figures) who refuse to join the dots between violence against women and trans rights activism.
When we do, we’re either ignored or they robotically repeat mantras.
“Transwomen are women”, “trans people are among the most marginalised people in society”, “1 in 4 transgender people commit suicide”, “Their fight is our fight”.
There is a lot of talk about preventing Violence Against Women and Girls, and protecting us and making misogyny a hate crime, yet when we show evidence that lots of transwomen (- not all blah blah blah) are threatening us. Transwomen’s disgusting, sexist, aggressive and entitled behaviour is part of that male violence. So many of them have pornified images and language on their social media - which is allowed - while feminists complaining about them are the ones being banned for hate speech.
Repeating “transwomen are women” doesn’t make it true.
If trans people are so marginalised, why are people like Shon Fae getting book deals, why are they supported by all the major corporations, why are there pro-trans shows on the BBC and Netflix, why can a single complaint by one of them get women sacked or banned from social media, why have they got QCs on their side, why are political parties tearing themselves to pieces to accommodate their demands? Why does Holyrood have a trans day of remembrance event when no one has been killed or died because they were trans in Scotland?
If 1 in 4 transgender people kill themselves, where are all the bodies? There would be more deaths from that than covid if recent statistics are to be believed. What about that study that says transition does not cure suicidal ideation? (I’ll add the journal link when I find it). What about the Tavistock controversy that says the children referred to gender clinics had lots of other mental health issues too, so how do you know their dysphoria isn’t part of that?
If their fight is our fight and we’re all in the same boat, they’re trying to push us out of the boat.
Repeating mantras reminds me of the Demon Headmaster with prefects repeating “the headmaster is a marvellous man and this is the best school I’ve ever been to” as the stock response to everything. It shows a lack of critical thinking and makes you look brainwashed. Fucking listen to women’s concerns.
