Caught a show on Saturday, probably on ITV or London Live that featured “extraordinary families”. One had a “trans kid” and it was the same old story of ‘my son liked dolls and hated trucks and wanted long hair like his sister’ and the narrator explained this as being born in the wrong body. *sigh*.
Please explain how wanting a certain hair style and liking plastic toys in the shape of women means you have some congenital defect in which a female brain somehow accidentally got into a male body, without peddling myths about disorders of sexual development (because that's ’s not what trans is). You will have difficulty because it’s fake science.
The mother claimed she had never heard of ‘transgender’ before her son was falsely diagnosed as a pretend girl but has now started popping testosterone herself after having some ‘i’m a bloke with a fanny who can give birth’ epiphany in her 30s or 40s.
I want to say to her:
You’ve failed as a mother.
You could have let your son grow his hair long - after all it was normal for boys to have long hair in the 70s. It's just fashion. But no, you pathologise hair. You think long hair = girl and short hair = boy. You could have let him have the toys he wanted but instead you took him to a doctor who lied that he was born in the wrong body and you now believe you were also born in the wrong body because… well I turned the TV off because i’m sick of trans lies and propaganda but i’ll guarantee it was because you were a fucking tomboy when you were a kid.
Fuck this bullshit.
That family is not extraordinary. It’s messed up.
