The Pointless Stalker
I had a cyberstalker once. I won’t go into too many details except to say she reported my fanart to a band’s record company, so I was banned from selling any art on an artist site. She threatened to take my book content and post it online to stop me selling. (I am not the only person she’s done this to). She tracked down a former friend’s family, sending them threatening messages, mentioning my name. She argues with people she thinks are me on the internet, on platforms I’ve never been a member of. She removed watermarks from my art and uses my drawings as her profile photos across platforms. She cloned an old defunct blog I had and used it to abuse people, who thought it was me acting really out of character. She’s taken old, old things I wrote when I was young and posted them on blogs, alongside my old photos, I assume to intimidate me, and she “exposed” all my usernames on some forum. She posted my friend’s workplace details on a blog.
Why?
Because she disagrees with me on a subject. We’ve never argued directly with each other. We’ve never interacted. She just hates me because she’s severely mentally ill.
Anyway, I am not bothered by her anymore. Here’s why.
The topic we disagreed on became boring to me five years ago. I moved on and barely think about it. I’ve had four major new hobbies since then.
I no longer speak to my former friend (we drifted apart) so her attempts to expose the link between us just goes into the void.
Her exposure of my usernames is meaningless - the people she’s showing them to don’t know me under those names and nor do they know me in real life. And so what if they did find out they are me? I haven’t done anything that needs ‘exposing’.
The blog clone was pointless. Not only because I’ve moved on, but because everyone knows it’s her, ‘that mad woman with 20 Instagrams,’ who rambles and threatens people - including children(!)
The former friend whose workplace she doxxed hasn’t even worked there for four years. I think she believes my friend and I are one and the same, but we live in different countries so this intimidation attempt was like a fart in the wind.
The old photo she posted of me? It’s a good photo. I was young and cool back then. And again, no one knows who the photo is, so it’s meaningless to anyone seeing it. Even if she told people it’s me, then what? I moved on. No one in that community knows me anymore. It’s just a photo of a young woman at a party, long ago.
My books she threatened to steal and publish? I changed my writing style and don’t like them anymore, so share away.
She’s just a speck of shit.
